What a Victim Can Do
It is not your job to protect the professional/clergy or the organization/congregation.
- Talk with someone you trust, get help for yourself
- Report the incident/s immediately
- Document and date a detailed account of the incidents
- Consider filing a formal complaint
- Consider obtaining legal council
What rights can the victim, the accused, and others involved expect?
- To be heard and taken seriously
- To be dealt with in a timely manner
- To be informed about applicable professional procedure
- To be assured that justice will be pursued through the procedures
- To be offered an advocate
- To receive a plan, designed with you to assist in the reimbursement of counselling and other related fees
- To receive support in moving toward healing
